As a break from our normal activities As Wild As had the opportunity to spend a month on the Greek Island of Hydra, not only is it a beautiful island it is also the home of Harriets Hydra Horses, the Horse trekking business of Harriet Jarman.
During the month I had the chance to spend a lot of time at the stables and with the horses which was really educational and enabled me to realise that the horses characters are just as interesting and different as us humans and other wildlife I have encountered over the past few years.
A number of Harriets horses are rescued and it shows what a great deal of love, work and care can do for an animal, there are all well trained sturdy horses that are able to trek many different routes on the island on terrain many of us would struggle with.

I am sure I will visit and work with the horses again so thank you to Roulis, Melina, Dennis, Chloe and Copper and a big thank you for the experience to Harriet and her husband Vasilis. Now back to some conservation work, Medway College this week and looking for new dates in the new term in September.
